How to change residence

A change of residence updates your registry record when you move permanently to a new address. Check ANPR or your municipality’s instructions.

In brief

Registers habitual residence with the municipal registry. Distinguish a move within Italy from first registration from abroad; do not assume ANPR covers both. Verified Milan instructions distinguish them and are not a national checklist. Prepare household movers’ details, address, identity and housing occupancy information; ask the municipality which residence-status evidence applies. Do not generalise local rules.
